Nineteen red-shirts who were seriously wounded in the military crackdown on United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters in 2010 filed a complaint with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) against former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban on Thursday.
They were led by UDD lawyer Karom Polpornklang and Winyat Chartmontri.
Mr Karom said the 19 sustained serious injuries in the military crackdowns on the protesters between April 10 and May 19, 2010. They asked the DSI investigators to charge Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep, former director of the Centre for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES), with attempted murder.
DSI chief Tarit Pengdit said 20 sets of investigators were prepared to take the complaint and interrogate the plaintiffs.
About 2,000 red-shirt protesters were said to have been injured in the crackdowns, 700 of them seriously.
