BANGKOK - A man was sentenced on Wednesday by the Criminal Court to 48 and half years in prison for multiple sexual assaults on his own daughter when she was just 6 years old.

The court then reduced his punishment to 24 years and 3 months in prison because he confessed.

Anan (last name withheld), 31, physically abused and raped his 6-year-old daughter four times in the period December 2011 to July 2012. He had been using methamphetamine, reports said. Anan threatened to beat his daughter to death if she told anyone.

The mother of the 6-year-old reported to the police after she noticed something was wrong. The father confessed after he was arrested.

He was convicted of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 years. Names were withheld because of the age of the victim.
