Road death toll rises to 148

Seventy-seven people were killed and 536 injured in road accidents throughout the country on Saturday, adding up the New Year toll for the first three days of Dec 27-29 to 148 killed and 1,362 injured.

The Interior Ministry's Disaster Relief and Mitigation Department said Nakhon Pathom province had the highest number of deaths with 11. Chiang Mai recorded the highest number of injured at 64.

The main causes of accidents were drunk driving and speeding, the department said.
