New Year road death toll 365

A total of 365 people were killed and 3,329 injured in 3,176 road accidents throughout the country over the “seven dangerous days” (Dec 27-Jan 2), Panadda Diskul, deputy permanent secretary for interior, said on Thursday.

The road death toll was reported on Wednesday at 332 for the first six days.

Anusorn Kaewkangwan, deputy director general of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said the number of road accidents was up 2.68% on the same period last year.

The road death toll also rose from last year’s 336 deaths by 8.63%, or 29 deaths, but the number of road accident injuries was down 1.3%, he added.
