SURAT THANI – Accidents involving firecrackers injured at least 31 people in the province during the New Year festival, and five of them were blinded, a hospital spokeman said on Thursday.

He said the majority of the accidents involved homemade firecrackers which contained glass, stones and bamboo.

Of the 31 people dmitted to Surat Thani hospital since New Year’s Eve with injuries cause by fireworks, five were blinded and another nine sustained serious wounds.
