Neilson Hays Library presents "Breakthrough", an exhibition of 40 oil paintings by four female artists whose passion for art brings them together in the spirit of friendship.

Breakthrough will be on display at Neilson Hays Library’s Rotunda and Cafe galleries from Tuesday until Feb 3. The opening reception is on Jan 12 at 2pm. The library is located on Surawong Road and opens daily except Mondays from 9.30am to 5pm. Call 02-233-1731.

The works on show present a wide range of subject matters which encompass scenery, portraits, nudes, and vignettes from the artists' overseas travels.

The four artists _ Japan's Toyoko Taguro, and Ua-phan Chamnan-ua, Nathinee Mantajit and Kunnika Rungcharoenpong from Thailand _ have been training under the American painter William Marazzi for several years.

They stand in sharp contrast to one another in terms of background, personal interests and profession. These differences are reflected in their compositions, and in their colour selections. Yet they share a common denominator, namely a love of art.
