MELBOURNE : Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand will make her Grand Slam debut against Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden in the women's singles first round at the Australian Open.
The 19-year-old Thai yesterday overcame Russia's Marta Sirotkina 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 in the third and final qualifying match.
Luksika is the only Thai player in the singles at this year's tournament after Tamarine Tanasugarn, Nudnina Luangnam and Danai Udomchoke all lost in the earlier qualifying rounds.
