NAKHON SI THAMMARAT - Three accused thieves admitted to selling stolen motorcycles for 3,000 baht each and using the money to buy illegal drugs, police said on Monday.

Pol Col Somphong Thip-aphakul, superintendent of Muang police station in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, held a press conference on Monday to announce progress in a crackdown on gangs stealing motorcycles in the district.
He said Boontham Sawasdee, Sakaoduen Luelueng and Veerayuth Lekphet were arrested in possession of 13 stolen motorcycles.
Pol Col Somphong said they raided the suspects' house acting on information from two other members of the gang who were arrested earlier.
He said police hoped to round up the entire gang soon.
The gang targeted motorbikes parked in front of people's homes or parked on the streets in business areas.
They used a “master key” that could unlock the bikes and start the engines.
They later stripped the motorcycles and sold the parts to repair shops in the area. They would get about 3,000 baht for one motorbike.
The suspects admitted they used the money they got from stealing bikes to buy drugs, Pol Col Somphong said.
