Man tells mum, I killed my wife

CHANTHABURI – A construction worker confessed to his mother that he had just murdered his wife, and then fled, police said on Tuesday.

Police said they found the body of Pranom (last name not given), 50, lying naked on a bed inside a house. The woman had several bruises on her face and neck and her head was bleeding.

Beside her was a bottle of medicine and several pills, which had been seized as evidence.

Jamroon Sungbood, a work colleague of the suspect (name not given), told investigators that the couple had been married  for several years. They argued regularly and the husband often physically abused his wife when he was drunk.

Mr Jamroon said the suspect's mother phoned him and said her son had killed Pranom. He went to the victim's home, discovered the body, and quickly reported to police.

Police suspected that the fugitive repeatedly smashed his wife's head onto the floor, punched her, and strangled her to death.

Police believed the man is still hiding in Chanthaburi province.
