Security tight for Carabao concert

A hundred police will be deployed at a Carabao charity concert in Ayutthaya province on Wednesday night to prevent any possible repeat of the violent brawl at the band’s last show in Bangkok on Monday night.

The police said three trucks would also be on hand in case they need to tale away any troublemakers.

The concert was planned to be held in a shopping mall’s parking lot, with the proceeds to be donated to Ayutthaya hospital to buy medical equipment.

There have been many fights during past concerts, especially at song-for-life shows. The latest such incident was on Monday night at a charity concert featuring music legends Ad Carabao and Sek Loso, held at the Port Authority of Thailand Stadium in Bangkok's Klong Toey district.

Pol Col Sombat Chuchaiya, the deputy commander of Ayutthaya police, reported that more than 5,000 tickets for the concert had been sold.

Military, police and security volunteers would screen the concert goers for alcohol, drugs and weapons at the gates, he said.
