Fake repo men steal teacher's pickup

SI SA KET - Three men posing as repossession agents have stolen a pickup truck belonging to a school director, police said on Friday.

Ubonrat Nonglek, the director of Nong Dum Nong Kan Noi school in Pho Si Suwan district, told police that three men who claimed to be from an auto finance company took her pickup truck away on Tuesday.

However, the finance company has denied having sent any of its employees to repossess the vehicle. The documents the three men left with Mrs Ubonrat were not issued by the company.

The victim said all three men were about 45 to 55 years old and they had followed her home in a white car. They produced paperwork indicating that the instalments due on the pickup truck had not been paid for the last two months.

Mrs Ubonrat tried to make the payment then but the men refused to accept the money. She also received a telephone call from someone claiming to be a representative of the Si Sa Ket branch office, telling her that she would get her truck back once she made the payments at the office.

She took a photograph of one of the men. The finance company said that the man in the picture is not an  employee and the vehicle was not about to be seized.
