The award-winning Hong Kong film director will be accompanied by star Tony Leung at a gala premiere of The Grandmaster on Jan 23 at the Grand Theatre, according to Channel News Asia.

The movie, which cost HK$300 million (1.15bn baht) and took 10 years to make, is loosely based on the life of martial arts master Yip Man (played by Leung), perhaps best known as Bruce Lee’s trainer.

The Grandmaster also stars Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, Korean actress Song Hye Gyo and Taiwan actor Chang Chen.
