The 20-year-old is expected to undergo a medical examination with the Premier League leaders before the end of the week.

According to a report on the BBC Sport website, United will pay an initial fee of pound sterling10 million, which could rise to pound sterling15 million based on the number of appearances Zaha makes and the success he enjoys at the club.

Born in the Ivory Coast, Zaha moved to England with his family at the age of four and joined Palace eight years later.

Both United and Palace have refused to comment on the reported deal, but United manager Alex Ferguson is reported to have played a significant role in the talks.
