Three Indonesian actors and a politician arrested in a raid on a house party have all tested negative for drug use - but they aren't out of trouble yet.
Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested 17 people and seized 14 ecstasy pills and two marijuana joints in a raid on actor and television presenter Raffi Ahmad’s South Jakarta home on Sunday morning.
Mr Raffi, 25, was detained along with actress Zaskia Sungkar, 22, her actor husband Irwinsyah, 27, and 34-year-old artist-turned-Jakarta councillor Wanda Hamidah.
An anonymous source at the BNN told the Jakarta Globe that five of those arrested tested positive for drug use, including a university student, a lawyer and a consultant – but the celebrities all tested negative.
Investigators have conducted more extensive drug tests on blood and hair samples to check if any of the group had a history of drug use, the source said.
“We’re still waiting for the results of blood and hair samples,” the source told the Jakarta Globe.
“The function of this test is to prove whether Raffi [and his associates] have been using narcotics for a long period, but did not use the narcotics that night.”
The head of the BNN's laboratory confirmed that it was waiting for the results of further tests.
"The hair tests needs more time as it [has a high level of] accuracy," Kuswardani told the Jakarta Globe.
"We have been [testing] it since last night."
Those testing positive could face a maximum of four years in prison if convicted of drug use.
Mr Raffi could face a lesser charge if his blood and hair tests also come back negative, the source said.
“Raffi can deny that [the drugs] were his, but he cannot deny the location,” the source said.
“It is his house and he was there. We’ll try to charge him on it.”
Mr Raffi could be punished with one year in prison and a 50 million rupiah (155,500 baht) fine if convicted of failing to report narcotics use.
