Big crystal meth bust in Rayong

Police have arrested three men, two Malaysians and a Thai, and seized 30kg of crystal methamphetamine worth around 200 million baht in Rayong.

Pol Lt Gen Winai Thongsong, the commander of Region 2 Provincial Police Bureau, held a press briefing on Tuesday to announce the arrest of a transnational drug ring and a seizure of the drug shipment.

He said on Sunday Rayong police force were informed by immigration officials that a drug deal was about to take place at a local hotel.

Police deployed to the scene observed Yoswi Kullipapaisarn, 40, arriving in a car. He met with two men who came out from the hotel.

After Mr Yoswi handed three boxes to the two men, police pounced on the gang. The other two men were identified as Yaw Kim Lion, 46, and Soo May Loong, 51, both Malaysians.

Pol Lt Gen Winai Thongsong said 30 one-kilogramme packs of crystal meth were discovered inside the boxes. Bills of different currencies and cell phones were also confiscated from the suspects, who were detained for interrogation.

Pol Lt Gen Winai boasted that this was the largest drug bust in the eastern part of the country. The drug haul was estimated to be worth 90 million baht, but it would sell for more than 200 million baht on the streets, he said.
