Immersive, snow-battered role-playing game "Skyrim" broke at the height of "Game of Thrones" fever in November 2011, but issues with the PlayStation 3 release broke the console's chances of receiving subsequent "Skyrim" expansions -- until now.
"Skyrim" -- the three expansions are due on PS3 in February, finishing with "Dawnguard."
Starting with the most recent of the three, "Dragonborn," on February 12 (February 13 in European regions), the trio of "Skyrim" expansions will be arriving on PS3 in reverse chronological order over a two-week period.
"Hearthfire," which was the second to release on Xbox 360 and PC, arrives on February 19 (February 20 for EU), with "Dawnguard" due February 26 (February 27 for EU).
A deal between Microsoft and "Skyrim" publisher Bethesda meant that the expansions had arrived on Xbox 360 around a month or two before dispersal on PC, and such an arrangement was at first suspected for late arrival on PlayStation 3.
However, technical issues were at the heart of the delay, with Bethesda saying in August 2012 that "this is not a problem we're positive we can solve" -- but significant progress appears to have been made in the months since then.
In addition, each of the expansions will also be offered at half price during their first week on sale. For comparison, the PC versions of "Dragonborn" and "Dawnguard" retail at $19.99 (€19.99 / £13.99 / $24.99 AUD) while smaller update "Hearthfire" is priced at $4.99 (€4.99 / £3.49 / $6.49 AUD).
