Tease your brain with "Frozen Synapse" on the go

Breakaway indie game "Frozen Synapse" is receiving the console conversion treatment courtesy of "LittleBigPlanet" studio Double Eleven, which is developing a PlayStation 3 and portable PlayStation Vita version of the strategy hit.

"Frozen Synapse" challenges players to think tactically

The original was released on PC in 2011, and players were presented with a top-down map and a squad of operatives that could be controlled turn-by-turn.

Designed for two players, each squad commander would send off their moves, not knowing what their opponent was planning -- a refined splicing of Game Boy classic "Advance Wars" and "Rainbow Six"'s mesmeric planning phase.

It was known for its simple and accessible look, combined with engrossingly honed mechanics that won it several prestigious awards including the IGF's 2012 Audience Award.

However, "Frozen Synapse: Tactics" won't be a cut and paste job of the PC original, with DoubleEleven COO Mark South stressing that it "is not simply a transition of the original onto console; we will be giving it a complete DoubleEleven makeover."
