Truck overturns, blocks Phahon Yothin

Traffic on out-bound Phahon Yothin highway became heavily congested on Wednesday morning after a truck carrying bunker oil overturned at kilometre marker 40 in front of a petrol station near the Bang Khan intersection in tambon Khlong Nueng of Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang district.

Khlong Luang police said the accident occurred about 5.45am.

Chamnong Promma, 51, the driver of the Dithapol Transport Co oil truck said while he was transporting 30,000 litres of bunker oil to a company in Muang district of Sing Buri when a pick-up truck abruptly cut in front of him, causing him to lose control of the truck.

The oil truck overturned on the left frontage road, causing the furnace oil to flow out of the tank onto the road.

The accident caused severe traffic congestion on the out-bound Phahon Yothin highway.

Police expected it would take hours to move away the overturned oil truck and clean up the oil slicks covering the left outbound lane.
