Serial thief arrested in Samut Prakan

Police on Tuesday arrested a street thief who admitted robbing at least 40 people in the Samut Prakan area.

Pallop Tidma, 33, was detained by Bang Phli police on Theparak road while he was prowling for victims on an un-plated motorbike in Bang Phli district.

They found many women's wallets and purses and documents belonging to many people under the seat of the motorbike.

Police said they eventually found more than 200 stolen items -- bank books, credit cards, ID cards, mobile phones and purses -- during a search of Mr Pallop's possessions.

He admitted to having robbed more than 40 people, particularly women walking alone in isolated areas, in the Samut Prakan area to get money for his family, according to police.

He said his intention was only to get their money, and he would run away if his intended victims fought back .
