For the first time in decades, Thailand's theatre circle has given out awards to honour local productions.
The recently established International Association of Theatre Critics (Thailand) on Tuesday handed out recognition to stage productions, plays and musicals to mark the growing enthusiasm of the theatre community. The first event, held at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, also honoured the grand dame of Thai theatre, Patravadi Meechudhon, with a Lifetime Achievement Award, a fitting curtain-raiser for what we hope will be a yearly event for theatre fans and producers.
