Hotel art fair a first

Farmgroup, a Bangkok-based creative and design consultancy, will present Thailand's first hotel art fair at Maduzi Hotel next weekend.

An art piece by Thaweesak Srithongdee.

Two floors of the luxurious boutique residence in central Bangkok will be transformed into 12 galleries exhibiting work from Bangkok and Chiang Mai, which will showcase art collections.

The exhibition highlights are expected to be two celebrity galleries, the first curated by Dr Disaphol Chansiri, the renowned private art collector, and the second by the popular designer couple Atichai and Wannaporn Poshyanonda, aka Pip & Duang.

An exciting addition to the "Maduzi Hotel Art Fair" will be the creation of an original series by one of Thailand's leading product designers, Anon Pairot.

The two-day event, with a pre-opening event on Feb 15 for VIP guests, aims to bring a new angle to the art scene in Bangkok.

By having different galleries exhibit in one relaxed setting, the hotel art fair provides collectors and art lovers with a great opportunity to view and appreciate different forms of Southeast Asian art, and at the same time offers galleries a new channel to promote and sell their works through.

Add in the good music, fabulous decor and youthful party atmosphere, the art fair is also a great place for youngsters and appreciative newcomers to gain more access to the art industry.
