A classic French touch for le nuit de l'amour

Vie Hotel Bangkok and V Villas Hua Hin are celebrating the upcoming season of love in style with one of the rising stars in French cuisine _ Michelin-star chef Kei Kobayashi from Paris.

Kobayashi is from Nagano, Japan, where he was born into a family of chefs. He honed his precision cooking skills mainly in the French restaurants of Japan before he chose to leave for France to further his interest in the cuisine.

There, he gained French cooking knowledge and experiences by working with many Michelin-star restaurants including l'Auberge du Vieux Puits, Le Prieure in Villeneuve-les-Avignon, Le Cerf in Alsace and the famous Michelin three-star Alain Ducasse in Paris. Kobayashi also travelled throughout the country to learn about the fascinating cuisines of each region.

After working and travelling many years in France, Kobayashi decided to open his own restaurant in 2011, and in less than a year was awarded a coveted Michelin star in The 2012 Michelin Guide Awards. Kobayashi became one of the rising stars in French cuisine (www.restaurant-kei.fr). His cuisine is a fusion of traditional French savoury flavours with all of the exquisite simplicity of Japanese culinary art and can be described as a perfect balance of everything delicious.

In Bangkok, with French sous chef Julien Cadiou assisting him, Kobayashi will prepare eight courses of gourmet French delights on Valentine's night at Vie Hotel Bangkok and a "By The Beach" dinner menu on the evening of Feb 16 at V Villas Hua Hin.

His eight-course menu includes delectable creations like red shiso syrup, salty cake, iberico ham and condiments, chilled avocado soup, crustacean gelee, crab meat and caviar, foie gras confit with passion fruit or mango, coffee, citrus and preserved citrus, lobster or rock lobster with Thai herbs and flowers, and more.
