'Motorsai' charged over sex killing

A motorcycle taxi driver has been arrested on charges of raping and killing a woman whose half-naked body was found last week, police say.

Suthi: Clothes found with bloodstains

Suthi Boonprom, 23, was charged with the murder and rape of Apatsara Todej, 20, who was found dead in Pho Kaew Soi 3 Yaek 13 in Bang Kapi district on the morning of Feb 4.

The victim, who had suffered a serious head wound, is believed to have been killed six hours before her body was found.

Police reviewed surveillance camera footage and named Mr Suthi as their prime suspect.

Police searched Mr Suthi's home in Lat Phrao Soi 101 in Bang Kapi district. There was no sign of the suspect but police say they found his motorcycle and clothes with bloodstains on them.

He was arrested yesterday at Wat Sri Mongkol in Phetchabun's Lom Sak district.

The suspect allegedly admitted he had raped Apatsara, who had hired him to take her to a 7-Eleven convenience store.

Police said he told them he took her to a deserted alley and asked her to have sex with him and when she refused he beat her until she passed out and then took her to the location where her body was found.

Police said Mr Suthi told them Apatsara regained consciousness and fought back, so he banged her head against a rock and then raped her.

Four other women in the area had previously accused Mr Suthi of sexually assaulting them, according to police.
