Sparkling spring style

Normally, Mutsuya Sakai dresses in black to do a make-up demonstration. But for Lunasol's spring 2013 presentation, the Japanese make-up artist donned a bright blue shirt to hint at the season's hottest hue, which partners with green for vivid eyelids.

Lunasol international make-up artist, Mutsuya Sakai demonstrating the use of green and blue shades to beautify eyelids.

"Thai women may shy away from wearing blue and green eyeshadows whereas these two shades are popular among European women," he said. "They regard brown shades are easier to wear and there's also the notion that blue and green don't match Asian eyes and skin. But there are different shades of both colours that can look gorgeous on Thai women."

Inspired by the translucent wings of a species of butterfly found in Hawaii, Lunasol's spring 2013 collection presents shades created for Asian women. The range features five sets of make-up to create five looks, demonstrated by Sakai at the launch event held last week at the Sofitel So Bangkok.

For example, the Blue Green Collection includes eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, blusher and lip colour, as well as lip liners.

"Blue and green are fresh and cool hues and when applied on eyelids, they contribute to a cool yet sophisticated look. With vibrant eyelids, lips need to be softer, in pink or coral pink," he said of the sparkling spring 2013 make-up style.
