A singer from the third series of "The Star", a popular reality television singing competition, was arrested on Tuesday morning with 1.2 grammes of crystal methamphetamines near the Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo's Aranyaprathet district, police said.

Police said Thitinan "Nooknick" Suksom, 27, hid two small plastic bags of ya ice in her bra. 

She told police that she worked as a singer at a pub in Bangkok and received an offer to perform at a casino in Poipet, Cambodia during the Chinese New Year.

"I bought ya ice from a staffer at the casino because I wanted to lose weight, and I planned to use some of the drug in Bangkok on Valentine's Day," Nooknick said.

The singer was detained by police for further questioning.
