The mansion is located north of Sunset Boulevard in Beverley Hills and offers exquisite city views, according to its listing with estate agents, Red Fin.

It once served as a home-away-from-home when Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah visited California.

An open patio and a covered porch that overlooks landscaped gardens are part of the mansion's exterior features, which also include a cabana, an infinity swimming pool and a 30-car garage. Photo courtesy of Red Fin.

The Sultan purchased the Spanish-style colonial estate in 1987 and renovated it with the help of architects Tom Proctor and Tim Morrison. The 14,000 square foot, two-storey mansion has eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms and stands on a 1.3 acre plot.

The 66-year-old Sultan is formerly the world’s richest man and his investments and properties are worth billions.

The $38m mansion has fireplaces in seven different rooms, along with a separate powder room and a dressing area. Photo courtesy of Red Fin.
