BAN

What has the Public Health Ministry banned in Thailand starting from June 17?

Whatever happened to the days of scribbling someone’s name in your notebook?! Photo from Facebook

A)Images of people having fun.

B)Mosquitoes.

C)Street food.

D)Xanax. The stress-relief drug, generically known as Alprazolam, is being considered a banned psychotropic substance after it was reportedly used in sex crimes. The Public Health Ministry claims Xanax has been used as a date rape drug, and that "some addicts take Alprazolam with cough syrup and a krathom-based cocktail known as '4x100'" according to the Bangkok Post. Under the new decree, the manufacture, sale, import, export and possession of the drug will be banned from June 17, and all drug stores must return their Xanax to suppliers. State hospitals and medical schools are exempt from this ban, but other facilities must seek approval before they can prescribe the drug.

PROSTITUTION

Who are the biggest clients of prostitutes in Southeast Asia?

A)You are! Congratulations (and gross).

B)People who didn't receive enough attention as children.

C)Prostitutes? There aren't any here!

D)South Korean men. Now, now, before you get all defensive, this report comes from extensive research by the Korean Institute of Criminology (KIC) that has looked into a variety of resources to reach this conclusion. The KIC's findings suggest that Korean tourists outnumber all other nationalities in terms of the frequency of visits to prostitutes, although there's no hard data to support this claim. A previous report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime also said that Korean men were prime clients of child prostitutes in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. The KIC speculates this high figure may come from the fact that many Koreans claim they are unaware that sex tourism in Southeast Asia is illegal, coupled with the fact that they are lured into red-light establishments by local tour guides.

LOVE

What did an 18-year-old Russian girl do after going on a first date with a guy she met online?

A)Sat by the phone waiting for him to call.

B)Changed her Facebook status to "in a relationship".

C)Imagined what their future babies would look like.

D)Got his name tattooed on her face. Her face! The girl, only known as "Lesya", initially met her date, tattoo artist Rouslan Toumaniantz, online. Just 24 hours after they met in person, Lesya let Rouslan tattoo an alternative spelling of his name across both her cheeks in five-inch Gothic script font. So will Lesya regret having "Ruslan" branded on her face? Well, hopefully not because the couple is now engaged after only a week of dating.
