Cops hunt suspected buffalo brigands

AYUTTHAYA - Police are hunting for two people suspected of stealing two buffaloes born to cows donated to a temple by HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

Male buffalo Klaw and female Thong Kwaw, both five years old, went missing, believed stolen, from Tanod Teay Temple in Ayutthaya's Uthai district.

Pol Lt Gen Naret Nanthachot, commissioner of Provincial Police Region 1, said the thieves were believed to be buffalo traders who supply the animals to slaughterhouses in Ayutthaya.

Slaughterhouses in Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Lop Buri, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi and Bangkok have been contacted to notify police if they spot buffaloes fitting the descriptions of those which disappeared, Pol Lt Gen Naret said.

The missing buffaloes were offspring of two female buffaloes bought from a slaughterhouse by HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha in 2008.
