Local leader wounded in Pattani

An assistant village chief was seriously wounded by a gunman in Pattani's Mae Lan district on Monday afternoon, police said.

Police said the attack occurred at about 1.30pm on a road through a village in tambon Mae Lan.

While Abdullah Salae, 27, the assistant chief of the village, was returning home on a motorcycle he was followed by two men on another motorcycle and shot by the pillion rider.

He was hit in the body and seriously wounded.
