Bird decries pic touch-up

Superstar Thongchai "Bird" McIntyre says the photo on the internet of himself apparently supporting Pheu Thai's candidate for Bangkok governor Pongsapat Pongcharoen was doctored.

Thongchai: Not backing anyone

The singer made the comment on his Facebook page yesterday after a photo of himself carrying a mobile phone showing the banner of Pol Gen Pongsapat and his running number was circulated on the internet.

"If you see any photo of me that can be construed as lending support for any candidates for the Bangkok governorship, please understand that it has been digitally touched up," Thongchai wrote.

"I am not involved in the campaign and nor do I support any candidates in particular," he said.

Thongchai is one of three celebrities whose image has been digitally altered to appear as if they support Pol Gen Pongsapat.

The other two are TV star Nadej Kukimiya and Muay Thai champion Buakaw Por Pramuk.

For Nadej, netizens found an original photo of him carrying a postcard was altered to that of him carrying Pol Gen Pongsapat's flyer.

As for boxer Buakaw, a photo of him was digitally touched up so that the white T-shirt he was wearing carries an image of Pol Gen Pongsapat and his running number 9.

In the original picture, the boxer is actually wearing a T-shirt carrying the image of song-for-life singer Pongsit Khamphee.

It is not known who released the doctored images.
