Malaysian customs officials arrested a Thai woman who allegedly tried to smuggle cocaine from Brazil by swallowing capsules and hiding a tube of the drug in her vagina.
Police said it took them three days to extract all 80 capsules of cocaine the woman swallowed, according to a report at MalaysianDigest.com on Thursday.
They did not give the woman's name, but described her as "large-sized and in her 20s," the report said.
This photo, published in Malaysian newspapers, obscures the face of the arrested Thai woman.
According to police, before she left Brazil, she swallowed 80 thumb-sized capsules containing cocaine. She put another package of cocaine "as big as a cucumber" in her vagina.
During the long flight to Asia, the woman allegedly told police, she ate only chocolates to satisfy her hunger. After her arrest, it took nearly 72 hours for her to pass all the capsules.
The report quoted Penang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief, S Batumalai, who confirmed the arrest of the woman on a tipoff, but gave few details.
"The suspect is currently remanded (by the court) for another seven days to assist police investigations," he said.
A photo showed the woman being taken to court by a female officer, but her face was obscured.
Police said the drug was worth 300,000 Malaysian ringgit if sold locally, the equivalent of about 2.9 million baht.
