Chalermchai rejects resignation rumour

Chalermchai Sri-on Thursday rejected as totally untrue a rumour that he was considering resigning as secretary-general of the Democrat Party over a conflict with party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on selection of the party's candidate for Bangkok governor.

He said the rumour was "totally untrue". Whoever spread the story was trying to cause trouble.
Mr Chalermchai said he and Mr Abhisit had together drawn up campaign strategies for the Bangkok governor election.
He had not been seen at party campaign rallies because he was abroad on a business trip and would return to work at the party headquarters on Friday.
On March 2 he would help MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the party candidate, campaign in Bangkok, Mr Chalermchai said. City voters go to the polls on Sunday, March 3
"I can assure you 100% that MR Sukhumbhand will win the election. I, as party secretary-general, work with the party as part of the campaign team with the goal to win," he added.
