Kagawa leads Man United to easy win

Shinji Kagawa scored a hat-trick as Manchester United extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 15 points with a 4-0 home win over Norwich City.

The Japan international enjoyed his most productive 90 minutes in a United shirt since his summer move from Borussia Dortmund as he produced three delightful finishes to maintain United's seemingly unstoppable title charge ahead of their Champions League fixture with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

In first half injury time Kagawa poked a volley past Mark Bunn and in the second half he beat the keeper with a wonderfully disguised side-foot and then a gorgeous chip. As an exhibition of considered, delicate finishing it has been unrivalled this season.

Wayne Rooney rounded off the scoring in the final minute with a more bombastic effort from range as United put further distance between themselves and rivals Manchester City, who face a trip to Aston Villa on Monday night.

Chelsea moved into third in the League for the day, a point ahead of idle Spurs after their 1-0 win over West Brom. Tottenham play Arsenal on Sunday night.

Demba Ba's 28th-minute strike eased the pressure on Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez with the victory at Stamford Bridge.

After Benitez’s outburst about certain Chelsea fans in midweek, a mutiny was anticipated from the home supporters.

But after a series of banners had been unfurled asking for Benitez’ s exit in the build-up, the game settled down and Chelsea dominated proceedings for 75 minutes of the match.

In other matches Saturday night, Everton defeated Reading 3-1, Queen's Park Rangers beat Southampton 2-1, West Ham edged Stoke 1-0, Swansea blanked Newcastle, also by 1-0, and Sunderland played Fulham to a 2-2 draw.

Wigan hosted Liverpool in the late match, played early Sunday, Thailand time.
