Appeals judge takes his own life

A judge of the Appeals Court shot himself in the head with a 9mm pistol in his house in Bang Mot area of Thung Khru district on Wednesday night, police said.

Pol Lt-Col Yuthana Nangkhala, the duty investigator of Rat Burana police station, was informed of the suicide on Thursday morning. A team of police including forensic specialists from Siriraj Hospital, went to the house to investigate.

Kiti Pin-ngam, 56, a judge of the Appeals Court and former chief judge of the Sing Buri Court, was found dead in his bedroom on the ground floor of the house.  He was shot once in the head.  The bullet entered through his right temple and exited from the back of his neck.  A 9mm Mauser was found by his side.

His body was take to Siriraj Hospital for a post mortem examination.

Kiti's wife, Sakuntala, 57, said she went out on Wednesday morning. When she returned about 9.30pm she found the house was dark, but the television and an airconditioner were turned on.  Shortly after, she found her husband lying dead in the bedroom.

Police believed Kiti committed suicide because he was stressed.

His relatives said he had sought medical advice from doctors. complaining he felt stressed out.
