IWICA Chess Academy invites international students aged up to 18 years to enter the second "International Schools Chess Championship", which will take place at KIS International School on March 16 from 9am to 5pm.

KIS International School is hosting the second ‘International Schools Chess Championship’ on March 16 from 9am to 5pm.

The tournament is open to teams of students from international schools in Thailand. The categories are under 10, 12, 14 and 18 years of age.

Interested schools can send unlimited participants as the tournament has been specifically made accessible to all levels of players _ even complete beginners _ by using the Swiss System. It will also use tournament chess sets and clocks and professional chess players will be on hand to give assistance during the event.

There will be prizes such as trophies, certificates and vouchers for individual winners and schools, as well as medals for all. Food and drinks will be available for participants all day.

The first tournament held last year was one of the most successful chess tournaments in Thailand. It attracted more than 100 players from 12 schools and raised about 70,000 baht.

The second instalment is expected to be bigger with all proceeds to be donated to Charity: Water, an organisation devoted to building water facilities in Africa.

Register at www.iwica.com/interschoolchess by March 14. There will be no on-site registration. Call 082-323-2772 or email intlchessbangkok@gmail.com.
