Klanarong: ‘NACC got DSI report on March 5’

The Department of Special Investigation sent the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) its report into alleged price collusion in the scheme on March 5, NACC member Klanarong Chantik said yesterday.

In the DSI's report, former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban are alleged to have been involved in price collusion in the process of bidding to find a contractor to build 396 police stations nationwide.

PCC Development and Construction Co won the bid and obtained the contract with the Royal Thai Police Office.

No police stations have been completed so far, with subcontractors accusing PCC of cheating them.

Previously, the NACC had received a related complaint filed by Rak Thailand Party leader Chuvit Kamolvisit against police who approved renewals of PCC's construction contract, Mr Klanarong said.

He said the NACC had agreed to merge the price collusion and Chuvit cases into one.

DSI chief Tarit Pengdith said PCC has asked the agency to unfreeze its bank accounts at the Chang Pheauk branch of the Government Savings Bank in Chiang Mai.

The DSI would make a final decision on PCC's request today, Mr Tarit said.
