Showcasing Myanmar scenes and local flora

Opening tomorrow at Bangkok's Hansar Hotel is an exhibition of paintings by Thai artist Promma Inyasri and Myintt Soe, a Myanmar national. Entitled "Artists Inspiration for Collectors", it consists mainly of landscapes and images of flowers.

The self-taught Myintt Soe graduated from the Arts and Science University in Yangon and started painting in 1975.

He founded the Summit Art Collection gallery there in 1995 and has participated in several art exhibitions both at home and overseas. His recent work includes depictions of various sites in Myanmar executed in his trademark impressionist style but also displaying a more contemporary mood.

Chiang Rai-based Promma has exhibited his work at venues in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, elsewhere in Thailand and at galleries in China. He received special recognition for works of art portraying the various achievements of the current monarch and to mark His Majesty's 80th birthday the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture at the Ministry of Culture chose some of Promma's paintings for a permanent exhibition at Phetchabun Provincial Hall.

"Artists Inspiration for Collectors" can be viewed at the hotel, which is located on Ratchadamri Road, until March 25. The Hansar Gallery Space is open daily (except Mondays) from 3pm to 9pm.
