"I somehow concinved them to give me #DrawSomething2 first," the "American Idol" presenter tweeted, with Draw Something studio head Dan Porter confirming the news soon after.
The show host's own Ryan Secrest Productions had been named along with Sony Pictures TV and Embassy Row when TV channel CBS announced its commissioning of a "Draw Something" TV show in June 2012, and Seacrest himself was at the time one of three executive producers.
Introduced in February of 2012, smartphone craze Draw Something turned 20th century parlor game Pictionary into a social sensation, with players using basic tools to illustrate a guessword.
Close to 35 million users downloaded the app in short order, and social gaming giant Zynga then swooped in March to purchase developer Omgpop for an $180 million sum.
Word-of-mouth buzz for the app had been enabled by the ease with which Draw Something users could share their creations, and Dan Porter promised "new ways to draw & connect" in its sequel, coming soon.
