To mark World Tuberculosis Day, which falls on March 24 each year, the World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) is holding the "Happy TB-Free Friday" event to raise awareness about the need to prevent, detect and cure the disease.
Being held today from 10am to 3pm at the WVFT's office on Sukhumvit Soi 63, the event aims to inform the public that TB is curable if detected early, diagnosed correctly and medicated continuously. Participants can learn how to curb the communicable disease through an exhibition and a talk by Dr Yuthichai Kasetjaroen.
There are also free health check-ups by the medical team from Health Centre 21 Wat That Thong, as well as mobile chest X-ray service from Bang Pai Hospital.
Other activities include stage performances by children from WVFT's Jatujak project, the appearance of guest celebrities Sattawat "Tae" Sethakorn and Anna Reese, and concerts and game booths with prizes on offer. The WVFT will also join other related agencies to promote World TB Day at the MBK shopping centre on Sunday.
There, visitors can learn more about the disease from an exhibition and have free health check-ups and counselling.
There will also be sales to raise funds for charity, fun activities and entertainment by famous artists.
