Music lovers, get ready to break your piggy banks. A total of eight indie bands are coming to Bangkok over the next 10 weeks.
Never before has Bangkok been this musically active. Numbed by the repeat arrival of boring, washed out musical acts, Bangkokians had given up hope of anything sonically stimulating.
For the past few months, however, things have been looking up after acts like Citizens!, The Vaccines, Dirty Beaches or Thee Oh Sees stopped by this lovely capital of ours.
Now, with the coming line up of these eight amazing bands, Bangkok is picking up its pace and at least managing to keep up with the rest of the world.
First up is Bloc Party on Sunday. After lead singer Kele came to Bangkok to perform in support of his solo career, now it's time for the Londoners to explode the full fury of Bloc Party, who have recently released their fourth album.
Mono is set to perform their second showcase in Thailand after bringing down the house last year. The Japanese post-rock outfit have toured worldwide, and are respected for their polished skills. Aeroplane is also coming to shake our town with his brand of nu disco and intelligent dancefloor-shaking beats. The best part is that it won't cause you a single satang to witness this Aeroplane taking off.
Another Japanese band with a monster talent, Toe are returning for the second time. These math-rock experimentalists are second to none when it comes to musicianship, and please watch out for the drummer. He's a true master at work.
After a long absence from Bangkok, Sweden's dream poppers The Radio Dept are also coming back for a second serving. After performing in a large venue for the first round, The Radio Dept will give a more intimate showcase, a most fitting option for their profound soundscape.
Manchester's dance pop machine Delphic has just released a follow up to their magnificent debut, and it is they who will cap off April nicely for a small-scale show. Rumour has it that there will only be 500 tickets available, so you better get cracking.
May sees one of the legendary British musical idols, Primal Scream. Courtesy of Tiger Translate, the Glaswegian royalties are coming to launch a Screamadelica fest.
And alternative folk outfit The Dodos will round things up nicely when they play two gigs on the same day to give Bangkok two different feels.
