TELL US ABOUT YOUR FIRST STUDIO PRODUCTION, "DANCE SHOW".
Having been a DJ for 13 years, I've seen the fun-loving DNA of Thai people all around the country. There's this shoulder-lifting gesture when they are really enjoying themselves. I've found this to be the quintessential Thai style of dance. So I combined the movement with catchy danceable beats [on the single].
ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE IT A SENSATION LIKE "GANGNAM STYLE"?
The concept may be similar in terms of making an entertaining track people can dance to. But I've been working on this single for three years. It's a summary of my direct experience as a DJ. We tend to overlook our original traits and find international counterparts like Korean pop choreography more appealing. However, I'm here highlighting our own unique creativity.
WHY DID IT TAKE YOU THREE YEARS TO FINISH THIS TUNE?
Because I'd been trying to get the right tempo that can move everyone. I had composed over 30 backing tracks and, to me, none of them worked. I was seriously trying to get the best one.
WHICH DJS DO YOU LOOK UP TO?
David Guetta and Tiesto are among my favourite electronic music DJs/producers.
WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A CLUB DJ?
I always get goosebumps when hundreds of revelers have a great time dancing up a storm to my mix. The dancefloor crowd gives me this awesome reaction and energy. I find that quite addictive.
HOW HAS THE LOCAL ELECTRONIC MUSIC SCENE EVOLVED?
The technology nowadays really makes it easy. I remember carrying heavy record boxes to work, but these days a laptop will do. The equipment now allows everyone to DJ without having skills. I find it very important for a professional DJ to still learn the art of mixing and other foundation techniques. As for the crowd, I find the local party-goers are more open-minded to diverse kinds of music.
WHAT'S YOUR DJ MOTTO?
Being a DJ is not only about playing music. You need to be an entertainer, know the music and be able to read the crowd. While mixing a set, you have to plan your selections. I'm learning from my experience. It's my goal to please everyone at my party. I'm happy if I can make everyone dance.G
