Abac: B30m loan may affect PM

A majority of people are afraid the problem over Yingluck Shinawatra's 30 million baht loan to her husband may affect her premiership, Abac Poll revealed on Sunday.

The poll was conducted on Mar 17-23 on 2,457 people in 17 provinces.

Asked whether they thought the prime minister's loan of 30 million baht to her husband Anusorn Amornchat, now being investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), would affect her position, the majority or 61.1% said they were afraid it would, while 38.9% said it would not.

Asked which ministers should be replaced in the event of a cabinet reshuffle, the answers were in the following order: education, agriculture and cooperatives, defence, finance, commerce, transport, interior, tourism and sports, public health and foreign affairs.

Asked whether the Matchima faction of the Bhumjaithai Party should be brought into the government, the majority of respondents or 64.2% disagreed.

On the political climate, 52.3% of the respondents believe it is more serious than the summer heat while 47.7% are more concerned about the weather.

On the report that Yaowapa Wongsawat, Ms Yingluck's elder sister, was being groomed for prime minister in the event of a "political accident", 72.4% thought it was not yet the right time to think about this while the rest thought otherwise.

Most or 71.9% of the respondents still wanted to give the Pheu Thai Party the chance to remain in government while the rest said it was time for it to go.
