Police transferred after casino raids

City police chief Kamronwit Thoopkrachang has signed an order to transfer the top five police officers at Klong Tan and Bang Na police stations to temporary duty at Metropolitan Police headquarters for 30 days pending an investigation after casinos in the two areas were raided.

Suspected gamblers are arrested after commandos from the Crime Suppression Division raided two casinos on Saturday night.

Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit said a committee had been set up to investigate them.

The action was taken after two teams of commandos from the Crime Suppression Division raided two casinos on Saturday night. They first hit house No 146/65 in Soi Pridi Banomyong 10 off Sukhumvit 71 road in the Klong Tan area and arrested 300 suspected gamblers.

Later, another team of CSD commandos raided a casino in Soi Udomsuk 25 in the area under the jurisdiction of Bang Na police and rounded up more than 90 suspected gamblers.

Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit said he was still considering whether to take punitive action against Pol Maj Gen Krit Piakaew, chief of the Metropolitan Police Division 5, who is in charge of the two police stations.
