The annual Red Cross fair returns to Bangkok's Suan Amporn plaza later this week. More than 200 organisations will be taking part to showcase their activities and achievements.
This year’s Red Cross Fair kicks off at Suan Amporn on March 29 and runs until April 6.
Starting on March 29 and continuing until April 6, this year's event commemorates the 120th anniversary of the Thai Red Cross Society under the theme "Bring Happiness to People". As usual, it will feature booths selling agricultural produce and other products from the royal projects and as well as goods from the 77 provincial Red Cross chapters.
Popular for its carnival-like atmosphere, the fair will feature enjoyable, interactive activities that have become a regular feature of the event including a booth-decoration competition plus Healthy Baby, Healthy Senior Citizen, Miss and Mr Red Cross Youth Ambassador contests. There will be an exhibition showcasing the medical services provided by the Thai Red Cross Society and teams from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Queen Sawang Wattana Memorial Hospital and the Centre for Rehabilitation Medicine will be on hand to offer free medical consultations and basic check-ups (testing visitors' blood pressure, waist measurement, arm-muscle strength and eyesight and identifying their blood group).
Common household medicines made in accordance with Chulalongkorn Hospital's original recipes will also be on sale. Visitors will be encouraged to donate blood and consider signing eye- and organ-donation pledges.
Suan Amporn is located on Si Ayutthaya Road. The fair will be open from 2pm to 11pm on weekdays and 10am to 11pm on weekends.
Admission costs 20 baht. Call 02-256-4440 or 02-251-1218 ext 124 or visit www.redcrossfundraising.org.
