Monterosso pulls out world's richest horse race

Last year's Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso was found to be lame in his near foreleg on Saturday and withdrawn from the race.

Top French jockey Mickael Barzalona who was due to link up again with the Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained Monterosso has replaced Kieren Fallon on African Story, trained by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum's other handler Saeed bin Suroor.

African Story while regarded as a talented horse is racing over 2000 metres for the first time in his career.
