Most people believe that political conflicts will continue after the constitution has been amended, according to an Abac Poll survey.
The poll was carried out between March 15 and 30 on 2,153 people aged 18 and over in 17 provinces: Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Samut Prakan, Phayao, Phetchabun, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Surin, Buri Ram, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chumphon, Trang and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Most of the respondents, 83.8%, believed violent conflicts would continue after constitutional amendment. Only 16.2% thought otherwise.
The majority, 89.9%, felt the constitution was an issue everyone should pay an attention to.
The majority, 69.5%, said the present constitution helps protect human rights such as in cases of environmental degradation and losses from political protests.
Most of the respondents, or 84.9%, said independent agencies such as the Administrative Court, Constitution Court, National Anti-Corruption Commission and National Human Rights Commission are still necessary.
