Democrat MP resigns to take city post

Phussadee Tamthai has resigned as a Democrat Party list MP and will be replaced by Chavanond Intarakomalyasak, the next on the party list, House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont said on Monday.

Mr Somsak made this annoucement before the joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Senate began to deliberate constitution amendment bills.

Mrs Phussadee's resignation took effect from today, April 1.  She has reportedly been picked by the party for the post of Bangkok deputy governor.

The meeting was also informed of the death of Pornpote Kangwal, a Ranong senator.
