A second-half scoring spree extended Guangzhou's lead at the top of Group F while the Thai Premier League champions remain bottom of the pool.

In the other Group F game, South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors put their campaign back on track with an impressive 3-1 win at Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds.

After three games, Guangzhou have seven points, Jeonbuk five, Urawa three and Muang Thong one. Only the top two teams will advance to the round of 16.

Muang Thong's setback could see Thailand's interest in the competion end in the group stage as Buriram United, the other Thai team in the tournament, are also bottom of Group E.

At Guangzhou Wednesday night, the hosts dominated for long periods but were frustrated by the Kirins in a scoreless first half.

But Marcello Lippi's men came back strongly in the second half with Argentinian midfielder Dario Conca opening the floodgates after 51 minutes.

Conca completed the rout with a penalty kick in the last minute after Muriqui and Gal Lin had given Guangzhou a 3-0 lead.
