Eagles soars on Pratunam market appeal

Eagles Air & Sea (Thailand) Co expects to maintain its position as one of the top logistics providers this year, with revenue staying on a par with that of 2012 at 200 million baht.

Chief strategist Wallapa Stirachavarn, one of the company's founders, said half of its expected revenue will come from its branch in Bangkok's Pratunam area.

Pratunam market, Thailand's largest clothing market, houses many small retailers.

The 22-year-old company offers one-stop services and about half of its customers now use its complete services without having to travel to Thailand, Ms Wallapa said.

These include door-to-door services, packaging, picking up items, completing documents, helping customers reorder products and even acting as an interpreter between customers and shops.

"This way, we can help lower the costs of our customers, who will no longer have to spend money to travel here to purchase products," said Ms Wallapa.

Its top customers are from Singapore and Australia, with the rest coming from Mauritius, South Africa, Malaysia, Spain, France and Britain.

Most products shipped out from Pratunam are clothing, shoes and children's items.

Eagles Air & Sea gets about 50 new customers each month, mainly recommended by nearby shops.

The company is expanding its presence in Mauritius, which it entered three years ago, by naming an agent.

It penetrated the Myanmar market at the start of this year by opening a branch in Yangon.

With 250 employees, Eagles Air & Sea has branches at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports, Pratunam and Lad Krabang. All are connected online.

The company has more than 200 sales networks globally.
