Drug bust in Pathum Thani

Police on Saturday arrested four men and two women and seized 200,000 methamphetamine tablets in Pathum Thani.

They also seized one pickup truck and eight mobile phones during a raid on a hotel in tambon Khlong 1 of Khlong Luang district.

Charged with possessing illegal drugs were Somsak Guethaweesap, 34, Veera Kiripitakchai, 34, Veera Sae Ma, 23, Niphon Jermngampring, 31, Mai Guethaweesap, 34, and Suwannee Kiripitakchai, 36.

Police said Mr Somsak told them that the six accused had been offered five baht per tablet to deliver the drugs from Chai Prakan district of Chiang Mai to a customer at the Talat Thai market in Pathum Thani.

Methamphetamine, known as ya ba, sells for anywhere between 100 and 300 baht per tablet in Bangkok depending on the quantity purchased.
